The Big Swing Thing!

The Big Swing Thing

The Big Swing Thing! Celebrates the Golden Age of Big Band Swing during the 1930’s and 1940’s! Considered the Pop music of its time, bandleaders like Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey, Harry James, Glen Miller, Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw were celebrities who ruled the airwaves and dance halls around the world.

From the Jitterbug, to the Lindy hop, Big Band Swing combined easy dance rhythms with fabulous melodies and easily recognisable lyrics. Radio propelled it all over the world and its popularity soared thanks to the unmistakable voices of Peggy Lee, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Dean Martin, Doris Day, Louis Armstrong, Jo Stafford, and Bobby Darin.

Featuring the sensational 14-piece Art Deco Dance Orchestra, led by Joe Howman, together with fabulous vocalists, gorgeous costumes, and superb arrangements, The Big Swing Thing!  takes us back to the golden age of the Big Band… where swing, dance, and  romance were king.
